Dr Christa Engelbrecht – B.Ch.D

Dr Christa Engelbrecht – B.Ch.D

Principle Dentist

Christa qualified as a dentist from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) in 1999. Christa is registered as a dentist with the General Dental Council (reg no: 76645).


Christa owned and managed a dynamic dental practice in the heart of Cape Town before her husband’s business commitments brought her to the UK. After working in nearby Berkhamsted for 5 years, she completed a year long course in advanced restorative dentistry at the highly rated St. Ann’s Clinic in Manchester, run by Dr. Paul Tipton.


Before taking over the Apsley Dental Practice in 2008, she has been spending her time between private practices in Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire where she has focussed on general dental care and in particular cosmetic dentistry.


Christa and her young family have recently returned to their native South Africa in 2013 after 12 years in the UK, but she is still very much involved in the daily running of the Apsley Dental Practice.

Dr Inus Goossens - B.Ch.D; M.Ch.D

Inus qualified as a dentist from the University of Pretoria (South Africa) in 1989.


After nine years in private general practice, he returned to full time study and was awarded the M.Ch.D. (Prosthodontics) degree with distinction in 2001.


During his studies, Inus was awarded the prestigious Colgate Palmolive prize for excellence in research.


He is registered as a specialist in Prosthodontics with the General Dental Council* (reg no: 68890) and is an active member of the British Dental Association,* the Association of Dental Implantology,* and the Academy of Osseointegration.*


During his four years of post graduate studies, Inus underwent advanced training in endodontics, and although he is not on the specialist register for endodontics, he accepts referrals for root canal treatments from colleagues.


Inus has an interest in dental implants and has lectured and published articles on this topic. He has also published articles on dental problems related to scuba diving, and is a keen underwater photographer.

Associate Dentist

Bal qualified from St. Bartholomew’s and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry with Honours and Distinction in parts 2,3 and 5. He completed his foundation training with the London Deanery and worked in a dental practice situated in South East London treating both adults and children.


Bal was then selected to work as a Senior House Officer in Restorative Dentistry at the Royal London Dental Hospital for a year. This position allowed him to work alongside consultants and specialists to diagnose, treatment plan and treat challenging cases referred into hospital. In addition, he gained extensive experience in the fields of Oral Surgery and Intravenous (IV) Sedation. Whilst working, he carried out a number of audit projects and successfully managed to obtain his Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons (Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh).


Bal takes great pride in his communication with patients and helping anxious patients feel at ease with his caring approach. He enjoys all aspects of Dentistry and keeping up to date with the latest developments by attending various courses, both national and abroad. In his free time he enjoys travelling, being outdoors and learning to master his photography skills.

Teresa Keown

Teresa Keown

Dental Hygienist

Teresa qualified from Birmingham School of Dental Hygiene in 2001. Registered with the General Dental Council (reg. no 004149).


With 25 years of experience, she is passionate about working closely with patients in a gentle and caring manner to achieve their long term oral health goals.


Between juggling commitments to her husband, two daughters and two Korat cats, she loves to cook and travel.

Zo graduated from Portsmouth Dental School in July 2014. The reason he began this career was for the love of helping people. The various cultures, people and challenges that a dental professional see’s on a day to day basis is what intrigues him the most about this profession. Learning about various new things and forming long lasting bonds over period of time with his patients and colleagues is one thing he really treasure and the reason he pursued this profession.


Zo also enjoy keeping up to date with new practices in Dentistry and keeping up to date with all new developments. Therefore making sure he always provide the best Dentistry he can to patients, and making sure patients continue to get gold standard treatment.


His interests and hobbies mainly revolve around sport and keeping fit. He like going to the gym, and try to go about 4 times a week. Play cricket as much as he can, and used to represent Yorkshire when he was younger.

Pam Jordan

Practice Manager

Pam is a GDC registered dental nurse (reg no: 158185) and has been working in various rolls in dental practices for the past 36 years. She also took her National Certificate for Dental Nurses exam in November 1982.


Pam joined our practice in October 2014 and is a valuable addition to our growing team. She is responsible for the smooth running of our reception areas as well as working in surgery with all our dentists. Pam is very experienced in dealing with all aspects in the dental surgery and will be able to deal with any query or problem that may come her way.

Brenda Turner

Brenda Turner

Dental Nurse

Brenda is a GDC registered dental nurse (reg no: 153305) and has been working as a dental nurse in various practices since 1987. She also took her National Certificate for Dental Nurses exam in November 2002 as well as completed the SAAD Dental Nurses National Course in Conscious Sedation in 2003.


Brenda has been an invaluable member of the Apsley team since 2001 and has gained experience in all fields of dentistry including dental implants, periodontal surgery, prosthetics and endodontics. She is responsible for the smooth running of the surgery & co-ordination of our patients for their treatments, her rapport & sympathetic ear has turned some of our patients into friends. She’s an all round multi-tasker and can deal with all enquiries efficiently.
